First post?

"Listen well, all of you. The Princess shall indeed grow in grace and beauty, beloved by all who know her. But, before the sun sets on her 16th birthday, she shall prick her finger, on the spindle of a spinning wheel - AND DIE!"

I know that's not the most pleasant way to start out the first post on your first blog, but I'm kind of, sort of, REALLY in love with princesses, especially Princess Aurora, my namesake. Somehow (and I don't exactly know HOW) but that quote seems like it fits my life right now. I mean, I'm a princess- at least I wish I am- and I'm definitely not liked by one and all, just like Aurora. Maleficent is after her and many people are after me. I'm the new girl at a school smack dab on the west coast of Florida, and it seems like no one here likes me! Well, other than my best friend, Addy, who I've known since I was just a toddler.

Addy and I couldn't be more different than Mulan and Snow White. She's an absolute tomboy and won't set foot inside a mall or salon while I practically LIVE at the local mani/pedi shop. Addy likes wearing jeans and t-shirts and comfy clothes while I'm nearly ALWAYS in a flouncy dress or hot pink skirt. Although we have sooooo many differences, somehow our friendship works. Addy's smart, sensible, and nearly always knows how to help me with my problems. And when Addy's down-in-the-dumps, I'm always there to cheer her up.

So at least I have Addy with me at this scary new school. I don't know what on earth I'd do without her here. But I still wish these girls would like me, or even tolerate me. I'm not a bad seed, and I'd love it if someone could see that. Only one girl here seems in the least bit promising and that's Rapunzel. You're probably wondering- "Rapunzel?!? As in that girl with fifty-feet of long, blond hair?!" Well, if you are, then you're correct. Rapunzel isn't her real name (it's Elizabeth) but because of her super long hair, the nickname kind of stuck. Anyone with a name like a princess's has to have something in common with moi.

Then there's this girl Cali, who you might know from her blog, Crazy for Cali. I don't know about that girl. I still can't really tell if we're going to be really good friends or really good enemies. Something about her reminds me of myself, and I don't know if that's necessarily a good thing. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

As you can see, my life isn't exactly the ideal fairytale-princess life I wish it was, but all princesses start out with struggles. Like Belle, for example- she's the village oddball. And Snow White's mother is an evil queen. Cinderella is like a slave for her stepmom and stepsisters. Ariel belongs on land, not in the water. Tiana's not the richest. And Aurora- Aurora pricks her finger and falls into a deep sleep. But you know what's amazing? All of these girls end up with wonderful happy endings. I guess these struggles are just essential in the life of a would-be princess.

With much love,
Princess Ruthie
